Who is responsible for this mess?
The Monstrumologist is a YouTube series made by High Voltage Productions, and is primarily developed by Oliver Barnfield, Zach Maynes, and Baker Tuthill. With their collaborators they have completed 13 episodes, 3 shorts, and several unreleased episodes that were later remade. Oliver edits and directs most of the episodes, Zach films, and Baker does everything else. A few episodes were filmed without Baker, usually when they don't require Redbeard or Brother Glitch. Based on an idea by Oliver and his friend Evan Tucker, in late 2016 Oliver and Zach got together to reimagine the series, this time with new equipment and actual editing. Due to the real locations and the creepiness of the internet, the show has not been publicly released and remains exclusive to this website.
What is this series about?
The Monstrumologist follows Oliver Barnfield (no relation to the real world one) on his quest to fight monsters that frequent his house and the surrounding area in the weird little town of Mills Crossing, Rockford. But Oliver isn't a particularly good Monstrumologist, and so he spends much of his time slacking off, jogging, and playing video games. Oliver eventually meets Beethoven, an assassin meant to kill him, and soon befriends Copernicus and Redbeard, two monsters who are actually on the friendlier side. While originally his goal was to fight monsters, it becomes clear that the real threat here is the evil Brother Glitch, an all powerful being with a connection to Oliver.
Why are the earlier episodes so low quality and why is the music so tinny?
In the early episodes of the show we didn't really know much about recording or making the quality high. We literally recorded the music off of a PC and exported the episodes at 360p because we didn't know any better. Well, know we do, and you can see the video quality and audio increase in Season 2. As for those earlier episodes, we have a DVD in the works that should come out soon. It will remaster all the S1 episodes and present them in HD.
How many Seasons will there be? How many episodes will there be in the next one?
We know for a fact that there will be 3 Seasons. As for a 4th, we are not sure. We do have some plans for it but we're not sure if these will come to fruition. A movie is a project that we have had in the works for a while, but again there are no concrete plans. Season 3 will have either 6, 7, or 8 episodes for sure.
